A sincere wish

During Family Home Evening last night Ashton gave the opening prayer. His final sentence was one that makes you open your eyes to find your spouse with an equally big grin on their face. He said "please bless everyone in the world who has been good that they can get a nice toy for Christmas and not a broken one." I love these moments!

Four

Isaac!

FOUR!!!! You are FOUR!!! You have been waiting for this for the last two months...and now that it is here you are just as cute as ever. You woke up telling the family how yesterday you were this tall (marking to about your nose) and now you are this tall...Like you grew a foot overnight :).

You are mister funny man. You love to make us laugh and you like to be on the edge (as in, like to bend the rules or test the limits). And you are a pretty chill kid. and you are a kid who is always willing to try, even if you are scared. You love to play basketball, ride your scooter, you love Batman and love to play with your hotwheels or your planes.  You enjoy reading books, eating popscicles and wrestling with your dad. Hide and seek and getting chased and playing board games are also at the top of your list.  You have a sweet tooth but you also like to eat healthy and always ask what foods are healthy and if what you are eating is healthy...It's a big deal to you. You are a little shy but you have the BIGGEST heart! I don't quite remember the wording but when you were born and your father gave you a Father's Blessing you were blessed to be a strength and a help to your mom and that is EXACTLY what you are. You are THE ONE who can calm me when I loose my cool. Mostly you just tell me sweetly and ever so sincerely that you love me, and often there is a hug involved and that's all I need to calm my storm.  In fact, I remember when you only two you CONSTANTLY would say the words, "I love you"...the crazy thing is when you say it, your eyes testify that you mean it.

For your photo shoot you insisted that we go to the park. First up are your different expressions. Isaac, YOU"RE THE BEST!!!!

And my aren't you handsome!!! Happy 4th Birthday Isaac!!!

Ezra 8 Months!

My boy is 8 months! He is sooo big and incredibly adorable. This, Ezzie boy, is what you are up to now and why I am incredibly in love with you.

Sad to say you are NOT sleeping through the night anymore. We are staying in TLF (temporary living facility) on base while we are waiting to close on our house. This means we are all in a one room apartment and if you wake up and are up for long, everyone wakes up. So I get up with you and nurse you, which you DON'T need. You are hefty!

You are in the 99% for both height and weight. You are 24.5 pounds of love! You are intrigued by food and you clearly are not happy when anyone eats and doesn't offer you any. Too cute! You love strawberries, pizza crust, noodles, applesauce and butternut squash. Oh, and french fries. I can't believe how much table food you can eat and with NO TEETH! Here is you gobbling sand at the park. You just can't help yourself.

You sit, quite well.

You roll and A LOT. Back and forth across the room :).

You make silly sounds. You love to growl! Raspberries, grunts and yells.

You love to nod your head yes! It is sooooo cute! You shake your head no on occasion too.

Your eyes!! You communicate such love with them. You make everyone who looks smile!

Your wild hair! It will stay just about any way it dries :)

Last but not least, you LOVE your brothers. You just want to be one of the boys. They make you laugh, they make you growl, you love to watch them play and try to play cars along with them. You fit right in.

Goodbye Colorado, Hello Texas

For almost 22 wonderful months we were able to live in Colorado Springs, close to family. It was some of the best years of our life. One of my favorite things was to see the kids get to know and love their grandparents. and it was a joy to see our parents become smitten with our children. Those sweet days are over and we have moved on to our next phase of life. Tyler was accepted into the Radiology Residency program with the United States Air Force and is to finish 4 of the 5 year training in San Antonio TX this starting July. We were thrilled to find out that they would accept his surgical intern year he did here in San Antonio prior to his flight doctor experience in Colorado. The AF sent him to San Antonio in March to first serve a deployment as flight doctor to airmen coming back to the states from the war in Afghanistan. As soon as he received orders for his family to move (PCS) about 2 weeks ago, we joined him! It was wonderful to have so much family there to help with the move. We had the house packed up, loaded on the truck, house cleaned and family moved down to Texas within a week special thanks to the many family members and friends we had Colorado.

So here we are, living in TLF (temporary living facilities) for the next month. With a family of 5 being crammed into a one room apartment, we have had very little fighting. The boys have had a blast being reunited with their daddy. Just a few hours ago while they were wrestling around on the bed Ashton told Ty" you are the funnest Dad ever, you are funner than all the other Dads!" Even Ezra at 8 months was trying to fall out of my arms so he could join the dog pile on Dad. I could hardly believe my eyes but I'm certain he wanted IN on all the fun.

Over the past week we have been househunting like CRAZY, and hauling the three boys across town to look at house after house is exhausting for everyone. Our incredible realtor Cathy has been so impressed with the boys behavior which of course makes me a very proud mama. With the exception of Isaac marking his territory outside of a few of the prospective homes she is absolutely right, they have been well behaved troopers! After many days full of looking at properties physically and online we finally put in an offer on a forclosed home yesterday. We probably looked like some crazy hillbillies while we were signing documents. We had spent the afternoon at Sea World, the boys were tired and I didn't have so much as a crayon to entertain the kids. They escaped the room a few times and ran around the office like a couple of crazies, Ezra was exhausted so I was on the floor trying to comfort and nurse him while Tyler handed me documents to initial. The worst part was when check writing time came and alls we had was one measly check. We knew we would need several and that there was only one but the rest were on the truck and it was a Saturday. Simultaneously Tyler and I spoke. I was apologizing for coming ill prepared with a single check while Tyler was trying to play the ignorance card "what? I guess this is our last one, I had no idea..."sort of thing.  We laughed hysterically last night over that one for almost an hour. I tell you, if you are looking for a good realtor Cathy Shoebel is the way to go. She is so non-judgemental, and patient...as far as we can tell anyway:)

So for now, we have an offer pending on a forclosed home in Stone Oak...and another back up plan offer on a home

To be a grown up

I think there's something about being the oldest child that makes you want to be more grown up than you really are. Ashton is constantly dreaming of the day when he can do things he's not allowed to do now. About a year ago he told me, "I want to be a grown up so I can drink coke."  He wants to drive, go paintballing, eat chips for dinner, watch ghostbusters of all things, give orders to his siblings and his parents. And probably at the top of the list is to not have to go to bed at bedtime. In fact if it were up to him he would not go to sleep probably ever.
About an hour after putting the boys to bed tonight Ashton comes out of the room. I tell him to go back to his room and lay down. To this he says" Mom, I CAN"T go to sleep cuz I'm almost grown up like you." I grin and he replies "And you think its a joke but it's NOT a joke!"
Oh Ashton, you are too cute! For my sake I hope you don't grow up too quickly!

a child's prayer

Tonight Isaac said the family prayer before bed. It was so sweet and sincere I have just HAVE to write it down.

Heavenly Father, thank thee this day, thank thee for Jesus that he likes nice boys and when we are nice to each other and obey. and when we are mean Jesus not like that. Help us find a huge house, huger than the other houses. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I love that little man!

5 months

Dear Mr. Ezra...
The time sure has flown and more you grow the harder I fall for you. Here are some of my favorites about you:
You are soooo easy to get to smile
Super easygoing
Your are tough! When the boys are rough you don't make a fuss!
So chubby, it's adorable
How you like to suck your fingers
Your beautiful blue eyes
Watching you splash in the bath
Your laugh...usually when playing peek-a-b00
Your big fat smile after you wake up
How you like to go to sleep on your own
The way you look at your hands
They way you reach for and hold my hand when I hold it up in front of you
The sounds you make "ffffffff" "goooooo", and gurgly tongue roll
I love that I get to see your personality continue to emerge. You are the perfect addition to our family and just what I need. My deepest affection,
Mommy
